2016: The Demise of Small-r Republican Politics by Michael Barone

Among the many complaints I have seen about this squalid presidential election -- the most dismal choice of major-party nominees since 1856 -- there's one that I find missing: that it shows how our politics have become less republican.

Win or Lose, Hillary is Finished By Ted Rall

Hillary Clinton, they say, is the most qualified person ever to have run for the presidency. They are, of course, mistaken. But one week away from an election that, for once, really may prove to be the most important of our lives, what boggles the mind of those of us who are paying attention is just how terrible a candidate Hillary Clinton has proven to be.

Hillary's High Crimes & Misdemeanors by Patrick J. Buchanan

If Hillary Clinton is elected president on Tuesday, and if what Bret Baier is reporting from FBI sources on Fox News is true, America is headed for a constitutional crisis.

Is Team Clinton Booting the Election? By Michael Barone

In my Nov. 1 column, I looked at the presidential election through the lens of the old children's radio show "Let's Pretend" -- examining how things would look if it turned out that Donald Trump ends up winning.

Is Clinton Slipping? By Larry J. Sabato, Kyle Kondik, and Geoffrey Skelley

Hillary Clinton has picked an awful time to hit one of the rough patches that has plagued her throughout the campaign. Now with just days to go until Election Day, there’s added uncertainty about the outcome. But while she may not be on the brink of an Electoral College win the size of Barack Obama’s in 2008 or even 2012, her position as the clear frontrunner in this race endures.

The Rest of Your Ballot By John Stossel

The presidency isn't the only choice next week. There are more issues than "Who's worse, Trump or Clinton?"

A Fifth Clinton Presidency? Hill, No! By Michelle Malkin

I keep hearing that Hillary Clinton would be "Obama's third term." The math is wrong. Barack Obama served the Clinton crime family's third and fourth term. Electing Hillary would doom America to a fifth Clinton White House.

The Left's Vision By Thomas Sowell

The political left keeps announcing, as if it is a new breakthrough discovery of theirs, that life is unfair.

Hillary's Watergate? by Patrick J. Buchanan

After posting Friday's column, "A Presidency from Hell," about the investigations a President Hillary Clinton would face, by afternoon it was clear I had understated the gravity of the situation.

Let's Play 'Let's Pretend' By Michael Barone

When I was a child, there was a Saturday morning radio program called "Let's Pretend." It used words and sounds to encourage young children to paint pictures in their heads of make-believe worlds.

Hey Lefties: Hillary is Not Your Friend By Ted Rall

If you lean left, the only presidential candidate who shares your values is Dr. Jill Stein. But she can't win. The two major parties have left -- sorry for the pun -- you and your concerns high and dry.

A Presidency From Hell? By Pat Buchanan

Should Donald Trump surge from behind to win, he would likely bring in with him both houses of Congress.

So Far, Trump Not Sinking Down-Ballot Republicans By Michael Barone

Could a flailing Donald Trump campaign hurt down-ballot Republicans and cost the party majorities in the Senate and House? That seems possible, if he loses to Hillary Clinton by a margin similar to those in most current polls and if Americans keep on straight-ticket voting as they have increasingly in recent years.

The State of Play With a Dozen Days to Go by Larry J. Sabato, Kyle Kondik, and Geoffrey Skelley

Another week has passed in the presidential race and it appears that Donald Trump is not making up much if any ground on Hillary Clinton. Last month, we coined the term “Fortress Obama” to describe an outer and inner ring of defenses Clinton had against Trump as she sought to recreate Barack Obama’s Electoral College majority. The outer ring consisted of states like Florida, Iowa, Nevada, and Ohio — states that Obama won twice but that are vulnerable to Trump — as well as North Carolina, which Obama carried only in 2008. These are states that Trump needs but that Clinton could probably do without. Then there’s the inner ring, states like Colorado, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin, none of which Clinton can afford to lose if Trump were to completely knock down the outer ring.

The Ruling Class by John Stossel

America is often described as a society without the Old World's aristocracy. Yet we still have people who feel entitled to boss the rest of us around. The "elite" media, the political class, Hollywood and university professors think their opinions are obviously correct, so they must educate us peasants.

Immigration Controversies By Thomas Sowell

Despite controversies that rage over immigration, it is hard to see how anyone could be either for or against immigrants in general. First of all, there are no immigrants in general.
